It’s back to school time again. While my kids are excited and definitely not complaining about their days being full again, the trope that kids are dragging their feet back to school while the parents are celebrating persists. If your kids are wishing the summer would go on and on, I have a few patterns for you that might brighten their spirits while they return to school.

This colourful Colour block drawstring backpack crochet pattern would be sure to brighten anyone’s day with its fun geometric designs and sturdy single crochet construction. This would also make a fantastic purse!

While not exactly big enough for school supplies, this Boho Crochet Backpack Pattern is back-to-school inspired and would make a fantastic gift for a teen girl! (Christmas is coming… get making!)

I’m sure teachers are so over apples, why not make them a fun and quirky gift from this Notebook paper and Pencil Pals crochet pattern? What teacher wouldn’t love to adorn their classroom with one of these adorable little pencils?

On the practical side, this Thermos Cozy crochet pattern would be so nice to protect your bag from potential leaks and help add a layer of insulation for your kid’s lunch!

This Crochet Poncho Pattern is definitely more for the maker… a maker needs a selfish project every once in a while. Fall is the perfect time for ponchos and don’t you LOVE those tassels! Get making one of these today!

Is it too early for winter hats? Certainly not if you’re prepping for fall and winter markets. (And also if you’ve been in Alberta lately… brrrr). Check out this Nala Beanie Knitting Pattern for a cute super cozy toque!

With the end of summer nearing, we know the plants outside will be soon a thing of the past, so it’s a good time to think about bringing some life indoor. This Hanging basket pattern is a quick little crochet project and doesn’t this succulent arrangement look fantastic in there?! Where would you hang one of these beauties? It’d be a great teacher gift too!

Speaking of bringing plants indoors… Don’t you just want to make one of these Mini Mandrake Amigurumi Patterns right now? Hogwarts students return to school at this time of year as well, so the care and repotting of baby mandrakes is likely a September activity in Herbology.

Of course, if you’re not good with real plants, you can also make your own to make in green indoors. These adorable Cactus Friends Amigurumi would make the perfect desk mates for back to work/back to school.

Can you really have a back to school pattern round up if it doesn’t include a cute apple amigurumi crochet pattern? I don’t think you can. Check out this sweet little apple pattern, a lovely little teacher gift or comfort toy for back to school.
I hope you all had an excellent summer and that the school year ahead is wonderful and full of learning. Go grab one of these beautiful patterns and keep your hands busy as you enter the “indoor season.” Or pin it for later:
