This Father’s Day weekend is also the same weekend as my son’s birthday. And both my son and his father are funny. In quite different ways, as my husband is a comedian and my son loves puns. His father does not like puns. Anyway, here is a little collection of funny patterns to make, most of them crochet patterns, but one funny little cross-stitch at the end.

While my husband (along with a lot of people, actually) is kind of afraid of clowns, the classic guy to make you laugh is a clown. If you’re trying to inoculate your children against clown fear, perhaps you can make them a clown from this Amigurumi Clown Crochet Pattern and they will associate clowns with happy toys. Otherwise, they can just avoid clowns altogether, like my family tries to do.

I love to find subtle funny things hiding places, like these Crochet Eyeball Headrest Covers. I think it would just delight me to sit 50 meters away from my car and watch people walk by to see their reactions when they notice these silly headrest covers.

Here’s a great father’s day-inspired crochet pattern you could probably whip up before the day was done. This Crochet Beer Mug Pattern would be a fun piece of decor for the den or the basement bar.

I made my son an oreo ice cream cake for his birthday this year, but he might have appreciated a cake made from this Amigurumi Birthday Cake Crochet Pattern. I don’t know if it would be worth it for him though. He is thirteen now and although I’m in no hurry for him to grow up beyond cute anthropomorphic cakes, I think he might not enjoy this for much longer than the initial reaction.

If you’d like to make your dog something to laugh at, you can dress him up like a bear if you make this Bear Headband for Dog Crochet Pattern. Ah? I’m all for making dogs look silly. Is it cruel? I don’t know, I don’t have a dog. But it doesn’t seem like they mind you laughing at them.

Of course for the cat loves in the bunch there’s the Crochet Cat Butt Coaster Crochet Pattern. 100% of sales proceeds for the month of June (2020) are going to the Black Lives Matter movement, which is awesome, so go grab one of these cute patterns today! My question is… do cat loves love cat butts? Like, as much as I think this is funny, I just don’t know anyone who is serving up their coffee on cat butt coasters…

This is probably more my style of cheeky decor: the Crochet Cactus Pillow Cover Pattern would make a fun piece of decor with a little nod to your favourite succulent, as well as some ’80s hip hop.

I guess it’s a familiar trope that marriage is like a ball and chain? It’s not something I’ve heard a lot recently, but if you are going to make the joke, you can accompany it with a prop made from this Prison Ball and Chain Crochet Pattern. It would make a great costume prop as well for a prisoner costume.

Here’s a fun little cheeky rattle pattern for ya. This Boobie Baby Rattle Crochet Pattern would be a fun little gift for new parents who don’t take themselves too seriously. Babies don’t care what their toys look like, but parents can find some humour in them.

Honestly, you’d be surprised how many penis-inspired crochet patterns there are. If you’re looking for that kind of thing, people seem to like this Penis Can Cozy. Looks a little cumbersome, but good for a laugh.

It is really funny what we find funny. Not sure if I’m going to go this far to make a cross-stitch like this Bathroom Rating Cross Stitch for my bathroom, but it is kind of hilarious to imagine a bathroom rating site. ratemybathroom.com?
I hope you enjoyed this collection of funny patterns to make. Enjoy the funny people in your life today and don’t take yourself too seriously in your making! Life’s too short to be grumpy about crafts! Grab a pattern and make one today or pin it for later!
