It has been a very very wet summer here in Edmonton. So much rain. Nearly every day. It’s making us all feel a little water logged. But you know, you can always look on the bright side and use it as inspiration! So I’ve been thinking about sea creatures a lot lately. Fish of all sorts! I think that knitted and crocheted fish are so fun. So, while we’re maybe stuck indoors because of the rain, we can make some lovely amigurumi sea creatures! I hope you enjoy this fun collection of patterns.

Of course, immediately when I think of Under the Sea, I think of Ariel the Mermaid from Disney’s Little Mermaid. This adorable Amigurumi Mermaid Crochet Pattern is a sweet nod to Ariel, while still having a unique and decidedly Green Frog Crochet style. Love this sweet doll pattern!

Of course, where would Ariel be without her faithful friend, Flounder? So, you certainly can forget to make one of these adorable Yellow Flounder Fish Crochet Patterns! This would be great toy for the sibling of a Little Mermaid lover. I know the little brothers always loved to play and be part of what the big sister loved. This is such an adorable flounder amigurumi pattern. I can’t wait to make one!

Everyone loves dolphins! Dolphins are such smart creatures and this Daphne the Dolphin Amigurumi Crochet Pattern would make such a unique stuffed toy to give to that special dolphin loving kid! This little dolphin will work up in just a few hours of beginner crocheting stitches! It’s a great contender for a first amigurumi project.

Let’s not forget the knitters in the bunch. Many times there are not a lot of options for knitted toys. Crochet is my preferred yarn craft for making stuffed animals, but this Finding Nemo Inspired Clown Fish Knitting Pattern is a great likeness to the clown fish from Finding Nemo! Fun bright orange and white and black stripes make this sweet stuffy very recognizable to the Finding Nemo fan in your life!

We can’t forget Dory (even if she can forget us)! This Dory Blue Tang Fish Amigurumi Knitting Pattern is another great knitting pattern for the Finding Nemo and Finding Dory series fans. Such a fun little throw pillow/stuffed animal fan for the underwater themed room or for the kid who is still a big fan.

Of course, if you’re going to recreate Finding Nemo, you definitely need Nemo’s aquarium friends. This IndoPacific Reef Fish and Coral Set of Knitting Patterns is the perfect pattern to make all your favourite aquarium fish from Finding Nemo, plus this bonus coral! So fun. If you have a real aquarium and you’ve had trouble keeping fish alive or can’t be bothered with the maintenance, you can totally make your own set of aquarium sea creatures to populate your aquarium and never have to clean a fish tank again!

“Fish are friends, not food” That’s what this Shark Toy Knitting Pattern reminds me of. His big toothy grin is both hilarious and frightening. You’ve got to have just the right recipient for this hilarious knitted stuffed toy, but I think there are plenty of funny characters in our lives that would know just what to do with this toothy grinned shark!

For a less menacing stuffed toy fish knitting pattern, check out this sweet Piranha toy fish knitting pattern! It has a zipper for its teeth! And an adorable under bite! How fun is that? I love this sweet one made in purple and pink, but your can knit yours in any colour you please!

Of course, you don’t have to just make stuffed animals to celebrate an under the sea theme! You can make one of these Molly Mermaid Baby Photo Prop Set Crochet Patterns for the new little expected one in your circle and have a lovely little photo shoot with your newest little mermaid!

Or for even more fun and functional funkiness, make one of these conversation-starting Magikarp Pouch Crochet Patterns and carry around a little wristlet packed with your necessities. How fun would this be when you’re a little more dressed up, but are carrying this whimsical little pouch?

Or if you just need to carry around something smaller (a key, perhaps?), make one of these little Crochet Mermaid Tail Pouch Necklace Pattern! A little nod to mermaids and sea creatures with this cute little fishy tail! Hold some spare change, a lip balm or a special trinket close to your heart in this adorable little pouch necklace!

This Campervan Travels Day at the Beach Cushion Crochet Pattern might be as close as most of us are getting to under the sea these days. A little nod to the beach and the ocean, as we dream of travelling again. Make up one of these cute pillows while you wait out your storm.
I hope you enjoyed this round up of under the sea inspired knit and crochet patterns. Which one will you make today! Pick up a pattern today or pin it for later!
