Granny squares are a great place to start when learning to crochet, but often times new crocheters dont’ know what to do with them once they’re made. I’m going to be honest about those first few: you’re probably not going to be able to do anything with them. You’re learning! It’s normal! Maybe if you caught on quickly, you’ll have some coasters. But take that knowledge and come along to see what you can do with the skills you’ve acquired and find some great patterns to turn your new hobby into garment making!

This Sunflower Crochet Cardigan pattern from Kristines Day Crafts is so cheerful and sunny! I love sunflowers and this stunning cropped cardigan pattern is easy to follow and requires beginner level crochet skills. You could easily lengthen or shorten this cardigan by adding another row of granny squares to the bottom to make it suit your preferences!

This long hooded granny square jacket crochet pattern is a vintage pattern that has been tested and tweaked by skilled crocheter The Sweetest Crochet PT. It is written for size S-M, but is adjustable and the seller offers support for adjusting the size. So I wouldn’t necessarily say this is a beginner crochet pattern, but if you have some experience constructing a crochet pattern, it is likely fairly easy to adjust to your preferred size.

This Crochet Granny Hexagon Cardigan Pattern from Amy T Design isn’t exactly a granny square pattern, but it fits the theme. These Hexagon sweaters are so cool the way they turn a couple of large hexagons into the sleeves and body of a cardigan! You’ll be so amazed at how it comes together. It’s oversized and slouchy, super cozy and quick to make! The beauty of this is that you won’t have to seam together a bunch of tiny granny squares at the end to finish it.

Stephanie is one of my favourite designers for easy to follow crochet patterns and her Cozy Days Daisy Cardigan Crochet Pattern is no different. It is made with a bulky level 5 yarn, so the granny squares works up quickly and you’ll be seaming up this sweater in no time! The yarn she suggests is Lion Brand Yarn’s Hue & Me, which you can also get as a kit (pattern included!) from Lion Brand. This pattern has inclusive sizing, with sizing from XS to 5XL.

This fun Crocheted Daisy Cropped Cardigan Pattern from TS Crochet Design is a fun and colourful granny square jacket with oversized sleeves and a cropped bodice that would make a stunning statement piece. So fun for festivals or weekend wear. You could choose to make it in just a few colours or use it as a stash busting project to use up those leftovers!

This Crochet Granny Square Hooded Cardigan Pattern from By Masal is such a gorgeous long boho-inspired sweater and would be such a stunning statement piece! I love how the different colour arrangements of each square make it so unique and have such a lovely 70’s vibe!

Speaking of a 70’s vibe, check out this stunning Ada Top Crochet Pattern from Cucurucu Crochet! I love this pattern so much! It is size inclusive from XS to 5XL and the length can be customized to your preference. Such a lovely little top! Would make a great top on its own or a vest over a long sleeved shirt.

The Isla Granny Square Sweater Crochet Pattern from Lakeside Loops is a classy take on a crochet classic! This pattern is also size inclusive, with instructions for sizes S-5XL. The 2-4″ of positive ease on this sweater allows for a comfy fit, and depending on the yarn you choose to make it in, it can be suitable for spring/summer or the cooler months.

This Daisy Square Granny Tee Crochet Pattern from Cansharkseattoffee has just one round of granny squares at the yoke of the sweater. It has sizing from 32-34 inches to 44-46 inches and is an easy pattern with flattering sleeves. Once you seam together the granny squares, the rest of the sweater will work up pretty quickly.

I hope you found some inspiration for your next steps in crochet! Crocheting is so fun; your granny squares can turn into more than blankets and scarves! Grab a pattern, some yarn, and a hook and get crocheting today! Or Pin it for later!

Stunning Daisy Sweaters to Knit and Crochet

When I was finishing up my Green Tee, I thought it would make the perfect canvas for some embroidery embellishment, but I wasn’t sure just what. I love daisies, but I get a little unsure of myself and so I go searching for inspiration so I can get an idea of what to do. In my search, I found some amazing daisy sweaters for both knitters and crocheters that I think you should check out.

I’m going to start with my knitters because I only have 3 patterns for you, so instead of making you scroll through all the crochet options (though I do recommend that!), I’ll give you yours right off the top. How fun is this Wavy Daisy Sweater from AnxiousGirlKnits? I love the bright bold colours used here, but you could make it in any colour combo you like. This pattern is knit with super bulky yarn, so it works up really quickly, for a quick satisfying knit. It’s also size inclusive, with 8 different sizes from a chest size from 28″ to 58″!

The Lazy Daisy Sweater Knitting Pattern from Celina Studioss is another super bulky weight knit sweater which will knit up quickly with a fun, side daisy for a different style. It’s size range is more limited, however: only XS to XL, so beyond that you’d have to grade it yourself, but it’s a pretty fun design that I wanted to include in this round up.

How adorable is this sweet Oopsy Daisy Sweater Knitting Pattern from Blue Bird Pin Shop? It only comes in sizes for children up to a child’s size 10, but if you had a basic knit sweater pattern for an adult, like the Brick Sweater (free Ravelry download!) by Clare Lee, I’m pretty sure you could figure out how to in corporate the pattern into it for an adult sized sweater.

The Chunky Daisy Sweater Crochet Pattern from AXXA Easy Patterns is an oversized chunky cardigan with large puffy daisies appliqued on top. This statement piece is sure to attract a lot of compliments and looks like such a fun handmade item to wear. It includes 6 sizes from XS to XXL and as it is a cropped cardigan with chunky yarn, it will work up quickly! So satisfying!

Ok, while these are not technically daisies in this pattern, the Izzy African Flower Sweater Crochet Pattern from iknityouknot2 is a colourful and innovative crochet sweater pattern that I couldn’t ignore as I searched for daisy sweaters. I love the integration of the African Flower hexagon motifs on one side with the stripes on the other. Such a fun design! While this sweater is not size inclusive, with grading only up to an XL, it’s so fun, I wanted to include it here.

The Daisy Granny Jumper Crochet Pattern from themissingyarn is a super fun granny square motif retro vibe pullover sweater that is so cheery that it will brighten the mood of any room the moment you walk in! It is an easy level pattern, so it could be one of the first crochet garments for a new crocheter! It comes in 6 sizes, with final garment measurements to about 132 cm (52″) across the chest. Given the amount of ease that the model here has (probably about 6-8 inches), that’s just up to an XL size.

Need a set of crochet hooks? This Crochet Hook Set has everything you need to get started with crochet.

Ok, I know, I know, not a daisy sweater, but come ON!!!! This crochet sunflower cardigan pattern from CrochetBao is soooo fun. It’s also beginner friendly and size inclusive, so it checks all my boxes! This pattern features 10 sizes from XXS to 5XL and calls for a 4 weight (worsted) yarn, which should be fairly easy to find in a variety of colours. The other fun thing about this pattern, is you could easily adjust the length of it to accommodate your preferences: cropped or duster (buy extra yarn if you want a longer cardigan!).

This Flower Sweater Crochet Pattern from Yarn by Nathanael was so fun I had to include it, even though I couldn’t find a lot of information about included sizes. It is motif-based, so you should be prepared to follow charts and if you have experience creating crocheted garments, you would probably be able to adjust and figure out how to make this in your size, no matter what size you were. However, if you are a newer crocheter or have no experience with garments, I would say you’d probably have to be straight-sized to make this pattern work for you.

This Daisy Granny Square Cardigan Crochet Pattern from Crafted by Cat UK is similar to the Sunflower Cardigan, but this one has buttons and the flower colours are definitely daisies (but it’s a very similar granny square). This pattern calls for an Aran weight yarn, which is just a little bit thicker than a worsted weight and includes instructions for up to a size 4XL.

So this Boho Crochet Robe Crochet Pattern from Linda Skuja Design doesn’t have the same daisy vibe as the above sweaters, but the lace flower motif definitely has a daisy vibe. This pattern is available in sizes XS to 4XL and has just 2 seams that can be crocheted together, so there is no sewing necessary! If you have never crocheted a lace garment before, you’ll be surprised at how quickly it works up. All that open work really makes for a quick project!

I hope you found some inspiration for a daisy (or other flower) inspired sweater to make! Go grab yourself a pattern and some yarn or pin it for later:
