Sweet Slippers from Amazing Knit and Crochet Patterns for Toasty Toes

We’re out of our deep freeze here in Edmonton, though the weather dropped for a couple of days. I still find myself in need of slipper-wearing in the house. My family has never been big into slippers, so it’s hard to motivate myself to make something for them that there’s a high chance they won’t use. I made a lovely pair of slippers for myself a couple of years ago. They’re holding up well, but there’s some wear on the interior sole. (I used Phentex for the exterior sole, so that’s holding up great!) So, it might be time for me to consider a new pair. I did just make myself a pair of socks and they are surprisingly warm. But given how long it takes me to get from deciding to making, it’s probably time to start looking for a new pair now. So, I’ve rounded up a baker’s dozen knit and crochet patterns to consider and I’ll let you take a peek at them, too.

This Crochet-Knit Slipper-Clogs Crochet Pattern from Pdf Pattern Design is the pattern I made last time. They turned out great! It is a well-written pattern with clear instructions. It uses the Waistcoat stitch, a knit-looking crochet stitch that makes for a nice solid fabric, unlike the holes that you normally deal with in crochet. It takes a little bit of practice if you’re not familiar with it (hint: crochet LOOSELY!). Perhaps I should just go make myself a nice felt lining like this example has and that would solve my problem!

But sometimes it’s fun to make something new. This pattern from Sirins Crochet claims to be the Easiest Slippers Ever Crochet Pattern. These are made by creating two rectangles and then sewing them together. I think it looks great! It comes with instructions to make any size you want! So if you are a beginner crocheter looking to make a pair of slippers, or just your first project, this just might be the pattern for you! They look stunning and are so simple!

Need a set of crochet hooks? This Crochet Hook Set has everything you need to get started with crochet.

Here’s another Simple House Slippers Crochet Pattern, this one from Exclusive 72. This pattern is pretty basic with minimal shaping, another good pattern for beginner crocheters. The pattern includes all sizes and would be great for both men and women. These work up quickly in a tight stitch, making them durable, thick and fluffy.

UPDATE: Unfortunately this pattern is no longer available, but check out these other simple house slipper crochet patterns for some good options!

I just love the look of these Dakota Crochet Casual Slippers from Magic4Kids. Using super bulky yarn and a large hook, this pattern works up quickly and includes sies for kids and adults, so you can make a pair for the whole family. I love the structured look of this slipper! I’ve got some super bulky yarn around that I don’t have a plan for, so this might be just the thing!

I have been eyeing up patterns like these Crochet Converse Slippers from Crochet Milie for years! I’m sure I would have already made them if I didn’t imagine giving them to my husband, him being genuinely delighted with them, wearing them a couple of times and then never touching them again. It sounds cynical, but we’re in our 20th year of marriage; I know how these things go. (But they’re so fun looking!)

These delightful Crocheted Snowman Slippers from Tutti Frutti Patterns are a whimsical, yet easy crochet pattern to make this delightful little pair of winter-themed, novelty slippers. And made with plush, velour yarn, as shown here, they look sooooo cozy! (I think my youngest kid would be a fan of these!)

Speaking of fuzzy slippers, I have been working with faux fur yarn lately (I just released my Furry Mouse Muff Crochet Pattern a couple of weeks ago) and I think it would be very fun to make some slippers with it. This Women’s Cuddly Faux Fur Slippers Crochet Pattern from Knit And Crochet Ever After is topped with a cozy faux fur, which looks so comfy… and maybe that would be enough faux fur? I don’t know, I’m thinking there would be something so divine about slipping your feet into fully faux fur lined slippers, but then… maybe they’d get too hot and sweaty and uncomfortable? Maybe keeping the cold breeze out at the ankles would be sufficient?

This crochet pattern for these Women’s Modern Faux Fur Fuzy Ugg Boot Slippers from The Cozy Knot Crochet also look suuuuper cozy! You can also make these with a non-faux-fur yarn as well, which would be easier to crochet, especially if you’re less experienced. The trick with faux fur yarn is knowing where to put your hook; you have to crochet by feel and if you’re new to crochet, it’s a little harder to do if you can’t see your stitches.

Looking for some faux fur yarn? Lionbrand Go For Faux is a great option!

If you’re looking to make some baby slippers, I thought this was a great idea from The Northern Moose: this Crochet Baby Booties Pattern comes with SOLES. How cool is that? I often seen beautifully handmade slippers and then they have these lovely leather or suede soles and I feel like that’s such a barrier to me making them. I love this idea of being able to get the pattern and the sole together. Very fun. So you get the digital pattern when you first buy it and then they will send you the size of sole that you order. How great is that?

Ok, knitters, you were so patient through all those crochet patterns. And now I have a few knitting patterns for you! Starting wit this super affordable Moccasin Slippers with a Cuff Knitting Pattern from Kween Bee. It is also available for free on her website, which is included in her pattern listing. But if you like to print a version off, or be able to make it without internet access or your phone going into sleep mode, this pdf printable is less than $2. This is an easy-level knitting pattern, so if you’re looking for a beginner slipper pattern, check this one out!

The Shalom Slippers knitting pattern from Dole Valley Girl Knits are worked seamlessly from the cuff down. Knit with bulky weight yarn, these soft and squishy slippers will fly off your needles and warm your toes! They come in sizes from small (women’s 5-6) to xl (men’s 10.5).

Here’s another Easy Knit Slipper Pattern from Knitting Socks Lydmila. I love the shape of these simple, minimalist slippers.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this pattern is no longer available, but check out these other great Easy Knit Slipper Patterns for some good options.

Wondering what knitting needles I use? KnitPicks Interchangeables are my go to needles!

Finally, for an adorable Baby Booties Knitting Pattern, this pattern from Baby Jumbuck Knits makes a sweet, quick and easy to knit baby slipper with a minimum of finishing. They would make a lovely baby shower gift. The pattern comes in 3 sizes, newborn-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-9 months. How adorable are these little booties?!

I hope you found a pair of slippers to crochet or knit. I’m still trying to figure out which ones I’m going to make. If you made a decision, go grab yourself a pattern today. If you’re still deciding like me, pin it for later!

Crocheted Christmas Gifts

Christmas is coming! And especially for crafters: if you’re going to make something for your loved ones’ gifts, you need to get going! I often start too late and end up either crocheting long hours and late night or having to go with a store-bought back up plan (or–and you’re welcome to use this idea– giving handmade gift cards for a handmade item… which then gives me the Christmas break to keep working!)

But you still have time to crochet before the gift giving season is upon us, so pick a pattern and get crocheting! Here are some of my crocheted Christmas gifts picks.

*Disclosure: this post contains affiliate links, meaning if you click on them and buy something, you don’t pay any extra, but I may get a small commission.*

In our house, the gift giving starts with opening up a stocking. How about giving a stocking? I love this Brighton Christmas Stocking pattern by Cyprianne Nolan from Pretty Darn Adorable. It calls for a bulky yarn or two strands of worsted held together, so it would crochet up quickly and has lots of pictures to help guide you.

Is there a new baby you’re making for? Check out these adorable Mini Mukluk Booties! Designed with a beginner in mind, any crocheter will be able to make up these lovely slippers in three different sizes: 0-3 month, 3-6 months & 6-12 months. Such a fun little pattern!

Or, for an even more Christmassy pair of baby booties, you could choose these Christmas Baby Booties also at A Frayed Knot Boutique. I love the fuzzy yarn used at the top. Super sweet for a little girl to complete her Christmas outfit!

Ok, babies are only babies for so long and then they grow up and you still want to make them handmade gifts. Winter hats are a fantastic option, especially with all the amazing options out there. Check out this amazing geometric patterned Evie Crochet Beanie Pattern from rubywebbs‘ Etsy shop. (There are lots of other great patterns in that shop, which you should also check out.)

I was almost just going to leave you at that suggestion to go check out the Ruby Webbs Etsy shop for some more great patterns, but I just love The Stevie Crochet Beanie Pattern so much that I had to share it with you. It’s another great gift giving option and comes in 7 different sizes, so you’re sure to be able to make one for anyone on your list!

If you don’t know the hat size of your recipient, you can’t go wrong with a gorgeous cowl! The fringe and buttons add a great finish to this lovely June Berry Cowl from Wild Sapling.

There are many other crocheted gifts you can make besides wearable items, including this fun Vintage Camera Bag Crochet Pattern from The Artisan’s Nook. Sometimes teens can be so hard to buy for and even more difficult to make for, but I think this little camera purse pattern is perfect for a teen gift!

I also find that boys are sometimes hard to make for as well, but I think any little boy would be delighted to receive this Star Wars Yoda and R2D2 set. This is not the only Star Wars inspired amigurumi patterns that Los Sospechosos carries in their shop. There’s a pattern for just about every character in the original series, plus a couple others.

Maybe your recipient is ready to learn to crochet or would like to learn amigurumi. This little pug dog amigurumi kit is a perfect first amigurumi project and contains everything you need to make this adorable little stuffed animal! Or… buy it for yourself to make your first amigurumi and then give the little stuffy away!

If you’re making a gift for your coworkers or your boss, you should consider making them each one of these potted cactus plants from Planet June. You can get a set of eight realistic cactus plant patterns for under $20! June is an amigurumi master! She has so many great patterns: definitely worth checking out her shop!

Well that should get you started on making some lovely gifts for Christmas! Go get yourself a pattern and get started. You have no more time than you have right now! Go go go! And pin this so others can get kickstarted too!

Super Slipper Patterns Shortlist

Remember how I said my feet are cold because it’s all cold here super early this year? Well, I don’t know why, as a knitter & crocheter that I never seem to have a good pair of slippers, but I really need to make myself a pair. Now I’m trying to decide which pattern to make. Can you help? Here’s my shortlist.

*Disclosure: this post contains affiliate links, meaning if you click on them and buy something, you don’t pay any extra, but I may get a small commission.*

While I like the ease of slip-on clogs, Mr Evangelist does not like the look of the crocs I bought when I was pregnant and my feet were swelling and I still wanted to take my toddler to the park. This pattern isn’t intended for outdoors (but there are a couple options to make them that way!), but I like the simplicity and the slip-on ease of this crochet knit-look clog slipper pattern. Personally, I think I like the cord-soled option, though with some Phentex, the crocheted sole would also be a good option for making your slippers last a little longer.

This sweater slipper clog pattern is another contender, also by the same designer, Sophie & Me Pdf Pattern Design. Another clog pattern. Cute and has a fun sweater stripe pattern to it. I love the idea of lining them like this, but I’m not sure I would ever get around to it. My feet just get all cold and I’d want to wear them right away.

Magic for Kids has this lovely design for a pair of women’s clog slippers with jute rope soles. I’m partial to the yellow that they are shown in and that the pattern is designed with jute rope soles.

I also love these Oma House Slippers available in all the sizes from Mamachee. It looks like a super cute and simple pattern, similar to a pair I made a few years ago, but I didn’t put a good sole on it, so they wore out quickly on the bottom.

These Children’s Mary Jane Skimmer Slippers from sylver are the perfect little ballet slipper for kids! Look how fun they are in all these bright colours!

Now into more of the knit booties family of slippers, I’ve found this cute pattern for 3-in-1 button boots. They button up into full booties or fold down for the sweet look above.

Need to learn to knit first? Check out some online classes from Blueprint.

I’ve also made this crocodile stitch booties pattern from Bonita Patterns a few years ago. I didn’t test my gauge and they ended up being huge, which was unfortunate, but then I had a revelation from above and I pulled them over the hideous crocs that Mr Evangelist hates the look of so much. They ended up looking like giant baby booties, which is kind of funny, but also functional for hiding crocs. The crocs aren’t very cosy inside, so they’re really just for looking ok. The soles were holding up surprisingly well until I washed them and then they fell apart. I still have them, but don’t wear them much because they look bad.

So, what do you think I should make to warm my toes this upcoming season? Let me know here or comment on this pin:

Fantastic Fall Foxes

Ok, it’s fall. My feet are freezing. It’s entirely too cold here for fall; it feels more like winter. The leaves just gave up the ghost after the most recent snowfall and cold snap. The chilly weather just makes me want to curl up with some tea and crochet. But I’m going to keep saying that it’s fall and thinking about fall things.

Probably it’s their warm orange colour that makes me feel like foxes are so very fall. So I’ve rounded up a bunch of fox patterns in celebration of “Fall” (no matter how cold it is outside).

*Disclosure: this post contains affiliate links, meaning if you click on them and buy something, you don’t pay any extra, but I may get a small commission.*

Firstly, I’ve found this sweet little amigurumi doll crochet pattern, “Foxella the Fox Fairy“. Isn’t she lovely? Her curly purple hair and pointy fairy ears are just a couple of details that I love about this gorgeous doll pattern By Sedef. With her removable foxy capelet, she absolutely fits the bill for a fantastic fall fox!

While the doll was dressed up like a fox, if you’re looking for a stuffed animal pattern for a fox, you need to check out this tiny and adorable Fox crochet pattern by Little Owlet Shop. Isn’t he sweet? He’d make the cutest little baby shower gift for a fall baby!

Maybe that Foxella the Fox Fairy made you a little jealous with her fox capelet and you wanted one for yourself. If so, why don’t you make yourself one with this Flint Fox Cowl pattern from The Velvet Acorn? Keep yourself or a loved one cosy and warm this fall and be festive for the Halloween holiday coming up at the same time!

If a whole cowl isn’t your thing, then this hat by The Hat and I will warm you or your little one up without as much fuss (or yarn!). This Forest Friends crochet pattern is a three-in-one pattern with options for a racoon hat, an adorable deer hat AND a fox hat. Perfect!

Of course, if you’re not wearing the cowl, you’ll need to keep your neck warm with this foxy scarf: My Foxy Fraise. This scarf pattern by Sew Silly Lily is definitely cartoony enough to not look like you’re wearing a real fox, fun enough to give as a gift to a fox-loving child, and functional enough to keep you nice and toasty in the chilly weather!

You can make foxy garb to keep your whole body warm! Check out these adorable fox leg warmers/boot cuffs by Lakeside Loops! The pattern includes 5 sizes, from toddler to adult, so you should be all equipped to make these cute fox leg warmers for anyone you like! Also, bonus: racoon boot cuffs!!!

Also from Lakeside Loops, warming you right down to your toes, Bailey Slipper Boots! Ok, this pattern is only available in baby and kid sizes, so we’re going to have to find an adult size pattern for the fox-loving grown ups. But first, let’s talk about another adorable flexible pattern here, as this one also comes with instructions to make them look like pandas, bunnies, and bears. All in one pattern! So many fun options.

Well, you didn’t even have to go searching for yourself; I found you a pattern to make some adult-sized fox slippers from Mamachee. This pattern also comes in quite a few sizes, child size 8 all the way up to a women’s size 12. So, now you can be accessorized head to toe in fox gear! Yay foxes! So fun.

Now, if you can choose, grab a pattern for yourself or delay the decision and pin it for later (hint: if you download the Pinterest Save Button, you’ll get access to a whole bunch more images to save your favorite pattern ideas when you click on the browser button from one of my blog posts!).
