Adorable Amigurumi

Have you ever tried to crochet (or knit) your own (or for a special kid) stuffed toy? I’m a big fan of amigurumi patterns and I love to see all the creativity of designers come to life in these adorable anthropomorphic creatures! Check out these fantastic adorable amigurumi patterns!

This adorable Puppy Dog Amigurumi pattern was a definite contender for me to make when my youngest son asked for a super cute puppy stuffy for Christmas. Alas, it was one of the projects that I didn’t get to for Christmas, so my husband picked up a store-bought option for him. He was just as excited for that one.

I love this adorable Baby Sea Turtle with Shell amigurumi pattern. Baby turtles remind me of Mr Evangelist, because he’s always saying that he has ideas like baby turtles (it’s estimated that only 1 in 1,000 sea turtle hatchlings will survive to adulthood). So baby turtles make me think of him. I should probably make him a baby turtle for fun one year!

Unfortunately, this pattern is no longer available, but this Sea Turtle Amigurumi Pattern may be a good option for you.

A classic teddy bear pattern is a great go-to handmade gift idea for a child. What a lovely baby shower gift! This adorable Andy the Bear crochet pattern is a great option!

Of course, a doll pattern is another classic toy idea and this gorgeous Michelle Doll Pattern by Carmen Rent (I love all her designs!) is just lovely! She’s all dolled up in the sweetest dress and her adorable bouncy curls are beautiful!

Another of my favourite designers, Orsi from the shop Manuska has created this lovely doll pattern for Emma. I love the embroidery detail on her eyes, requiring no special notions, like safety eyes or anything, perfect for a young baby, so there are no buttons or choking hazards.

If you’re feeling the St Patrick’s Day celebrations a little early, you have plenty of time to crochet up this adorable Pudgy Leprechaun. He’s as adorable as Saint Nicholas, with his rosy cheeks and jolly beard! He’d be sure to add some whimsy to your spring!

Amazing Amigurumi

I’ve been spending a little more time on Instagram lately, trying to learn, while also trying to not be too much of an old person, because I’m not finding it quite as intuitive as other platforms. But there is so much crafty goodness to be had on Instagram! Following some of my favorite designers has me once again in awe of these fantastic designers and in love with their adorable creations.

I’m absolutely loving this adorable Jack the Pirate Monkey amigurumi pattern! Perfect handmade gift idea for the little monkey in your life!

I’m also amazed by this wonderful amigurumi camera pattern. One of the great things about amigurumi is that you can make soft toys for kids in any shape you want so there’s a fun and safe and non-breakable toy for your toddler! Great for pretending which so many toddlers love.

UPDATE: This shop is on a break as of today, but check out some other great Amigurumi Camera Crochet Patterns here.

Have you ever heard of glow in the dark yarn? Well, this pattern says that you can make it into a little glow worm by using fluorescent yarn, but I don’t know that I’ve ever seen glow in the dark yarn in the yarn store. Have you? You could get the pattern kit (with all the yarn and stuff) here if you’re worried about being able to find the yarn you’re looking for locally.

Now, there’s no pattern for this amigurumi VW Beetle toy, but it’s so beautiful that it is definitely a place in this amazing amigurumi roundup! Don’t be afraid to request a custom order from VictoriaLysykToys if this particular listing is sold out by the time you get there.

UPDATE: There’s a PATTERN!!! It’s not identical to this one, but it’s pretty darn close! Check out this VW Beetle Amigurumi Pattern from MillionBells to make your own!

Finally, in today’s amazing amigurumi finds is this stunning dragon crochet amigurumi pattern by VenelopaToys. Don’t you just love her big wide-open eyes and lovely detail on the wings? This looks like a great pattern to make!

UPDATE: This designer is no longer selling on Etsy, but you can check out other dragon amigurumi patterns here or visit her Ravelry Shop.

I hope you enjoyed this roundup of amazing amigurumi. Let me know if you make one of these lovely patterns! I would love to see your work. Comment here on the blog or on this pin on Pinterest:

We love Harry Potter! There are so many great Harry Potter inspired craft projects to try. I’ve found some great ones for you today!

First thing’s first, get yourself sorted into a house! You can crochet this fun sorting hat pattern and figure out if you’re a Hufflepuff, a Gryffindor, a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin. (My daughter and I are Ravenclaws.)

I was so pleased to find a crochet pattern to make a snowy owl like Hedwig! And it’s a vintage pattern, which I think is cool. Honestly, most vintage patterns look a little wonky, IMHO, but I think this pattern looks great and would be perfect to make the Potterhead in your life their very own owl!

If you’re looking to make a unique gift for the Harry Potter fan in your life, you can’t go wrong with this adorable, grumpy Mandrake amigurumi crochet pattern! Thankfully these stuffed toys will not scream like a “real” mandrake!

This fall season with back to school and Halloween approaching just get me in the mood for Harry Potter. I’m so pleased to have started reading the books again with my youngest son. It’s been a while for me! I hope you enjoy these Harry Potter inspired knitting and crochet patterns!

Charlie Brown – Doesn’t he look great? All those times you felt bad for poor ol’ Chuck; now you can just give him a hug and make him feel better.

The Snorks – I love this cartoon when I was a kid and it always felt like no one else even remembered that it existed. It did exist! My mom even made me a birthday cake shaped like a Snork one year! And this crochet pattern proves that other people remember too!

My family and I loved the movie Inside Out. We tried to convince the kids it would be amazing to go as all the emotions from the movie for Halloween that fall, but alas, no one wanted to be Sadness.  Both my youngest and my husband wanted to go as Anger. I’ll let you make of that what you like.

Five of the Best Amigurumi Animals to Crochet

5 Adorable Amigurumi Animals to Crochet. A crochet pattern round up by craft evangelist
Adorable Amigurumi Animals

One of my favourite crafts is crocheting. I learned to crochet from a friend in college, even though my mom had tried to teach me when I was a little younger. I don’t know what was wrong with me, but I kinda see the same spirit in my daughter, so maybe it’s a weird I-don’t-want-my-mother-to-teach-me-anything trait that runs in our family. Sorry, mom! I love ya, I was just weird.

My first project was a scarf, the gauge of which was tight beyond belief, but I got that sorted out and then crocheted a large blanket in a matter of days for my friend in time for Christmas. I’m pretty sure I just parked myself on the couch at my parents’ house when I was home for Christmas and crocheted for three days straight.

Later I learned how to make mittens from another friend and the rest is history, I guess. Once I learned how to increase and decrease, I had the basics for AMIGURUMI! It’s so fun! You can make stuffies! And potatoes with eyes! (haha). Since then I have made a lot of fun stuffed things. Like this banana.

Lately, I have been scouring the internet finding the best and cutest amigurumi stuffies to crochet. (Check out my amigurumi Pinterest board!) As much as I sometimes try to make up my own patterns, I’m not really a pattern writer (maybe one day…) and the time it takes for a pattern writer to test and create a new pattern is definitely worth the cost of some of the paid patterns available. Here are some of my favourites I’ve found recently.

Look at this amazing owl pattern! I love the detail on the belly (breast? what do you call that part of a bird?) So sweet. Owls are great. This pattern is a free Ravelry download.

Cuddle Me Fox — and check out this tiny fox pattern! So cute! Foxes are really trendy right now and this little guy looks like he’ll come together quickly. This little guy is available on amigurumi.today as a free pattern.

What a sweet crocheted fox pattern! Fits in your hand!

Boxy Bear is another free pattern for a new crocheter. Nice straight seams. I love the way he comes together. Really cute.

Isn’t this little Monkey pattern cute? This pattern is available from allaboutami; it was published last year in honour of 2016, the Chinese year of the Monkey. If you’d like a nice printable version of the pattern, it’s available for a small fee here.

Cute animal studies to crochet!

Tourist Giraffe This little giraffe is named Kenny and he comes with a camera!!! How cute is that? I love this little giraffe! He’d make a great gift to crochet!

That’s my quick little round-up of some of my favourite stuffed animals to crochet. Pick one and find your hook and happy crocheting!
